"Achiever's Interview with Tammy Morris"

Tammy Morris is a lady who is making a big impact with her Custom Publishing website. Read about her in this exclusive interview by Gary Simpson.
This week's Motivation & Self Esteem For Success "Achiever's Interview" is with Tammy Morris of Burlington, USA. Tammy's website is Custom Publishing Design.
Gary Simpson - Tammy, what is the principal aim of your website and what do you hope to achieve with it?
Tammy Morris - Gary, my principal aim with the website is to help people get their books or software published in a well-designed manner. I also hope to improve the perception of e-books in general.
Gary Simpson - So, just carrying on from there - what do you think is different about your website that makes it special?
Tammy Morris - Other than it needs to be completely overhauled? (grin) I think it’s the services we offer and the fact that we don’t have a “one size, one price fits all" policy. We really tailor our services to the authors' needs and will help them in any area they need it.
Gary Simpson - Well, I can attest to that. You have done several e-books for me and I have been very pleased with the work you did. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble for you and you performed very professionally with every assignment I have given you. On a personal note, what do you consider to be your "crowning" achievement to date?
Tammy Morris - I appreciate you saying that Gary. My "crowning" achievement to date? Personally, without doubt - my son. Professionally, I would have to say my first e-book/printed version/website combination (the works) for a client.
Gary Simpson - Well, (laughing) I will only pursue the professional part of your answer in my next question. How long did it take you to achieve that e-book/ website combination?
Tammy Morris - It took about a month after seriously launching "Custom Publishing and Design" to land the client. After that it was another couple of months before we were ready to launch his site and products. It was a very intensive undertaking. I am happy to say that he has become a very good friend and I still work with him.
Gary Simpson - Tammy, knowing the standard and professionalism of your work first hand, I would have to remark that he has made a good business decision by sticking with you. However, we all know that life, in general, and business, in particular, is not always beer and roses, so to speak. What is the greatest difficulty you have ever had to overcome?
Tammy Morris - An abusive relationship.
Gary Simpson - Tammy, I won't press you on the answer you just gave because I know it is something painful to talk about. I must say that there seems to be an awful lot of really nice ladies out there, like yourself and some of the others that I have interviewed in this series, who say that they have suffered from abusive up-bringings and personal relationships. In my opinion, it doesn't say too much for the self-esteem of the abusers but it says an awful lot about the people who overcome it. Anyway, getting away from the pain of all that sort of thing, what are three personal attributes you possess that help you to win?
Tammy Morris - That’s a toughie! I would have to say my willingness to give and take chances along with my belief in myself and in spiritual matters.
Gary Simpson - Tammy, I love asking this question - are you a reader and, if so, what sort of books do you read?
Tammy

Morris - I love to read. Reading is my favorite way to unwind, reward myself, or give myself an escape/break. That’s one of the reasons I have focused on designing books. I have a wide range of taste. I like fantasy, horror, suspense, history and philosophy just to name a few.
Gary Simpson - That's quite a diverse list. Leading on from that, do you have a favorite quote or saying and what is it?
Tammy Morris - There are so many that I like, it’s hard to pick just one. Here’s one: “We ought to do good to others as simply as a horse runs, or a bee makes honey, or a vine bears grapes, season after season without thinking of the grapes it has borne.“ - Marcus Aurelius. Also, there are tons of great ones from Doctor Seuss (Theodore Geisel). I think we can all learn a lot from the wisdom of Dr. Seuss.
Gary Simpson - Tammy, getting back to matters concerning the internet, what, if any, is one thing about it that annoys you the most?
Tammy Morris - A lot of things annoy me about it. How long do we have? Here’s a partial list - people taking advantage of others, pornography, scams, spam, misinformation, shoddy business practices, basic “nastiness"... Shall I go on?
Gary Simpson - No, I don't think that will be necessary. That's quite a list and I agree with you on all of them. Going from negative to positive, what, in your opinion, is the most advantageous feature of the internet?
Tammy Morris - The flip side of all that. The Internet is capable of helping so many people and you can make some wonderful connections through it. I have made so many friends that I never would have if not for the Internet.
Gary Simpson - Tammy, we're nearing the end of this short interview. I am really enjoying the fullness and frankness of your answers. I'm sure our readers will also. What project or projects are you currently working on?
Tammy Morris - I have a few authors that I am working with on their books. One is a study guide that we are releasing as separate chapters and then, when it’s finished, putting it all together into one book. I’m also working with a friend on a CD version of her latest project. Plus, as I indicated earlier, I am planning a major overhaul of my website. Of course, I’m still trying to obtain more clients.
Gary Simpson - Is there anything else you would like to say or add to the interview?
Tammy Morris - Just that I wanted to thank you for this opportunity, Gary. I also really admire you and what you do for others.
Gary Simpson - Thanks Tammy. It was very kind of you to say that. Can I recommend to anybody out there who is contemplating developing an e-book, or for that matter, any type of cyber-publishing or website design, to get in touch with Tammy. Like I mentioned earlier in the interview, I have used Tammy's expertise several times in the past and she has been an absolute "treasure" to work with. And I don't say that lightly! Tammy has done all of my motivation and self-esteem e-books and I am so pleased with her work. Once again, thanks Tammy for agreeing to the interview and, well... for just being you!
